Description:

The Chronicle of Philanthropy is looking for a staff writer to produce stories on fundraising and other topics about the $1.1-trillion charitable nonprofit sector. We’re looking for a strong writer/reporter who has worked with data -- and wants to learn more about analyzing it and using it to tell stories. We seek someone skilled at telling stories via digital media to help our readers understand how they can do their jobs better and carry out their organizations’ missions.

We're looking for a talented individual who thrives on deadline and is self-motivated. You will be given the opportunity to write online features and quick turnaround breaking news, manage data-derived reporting projects, and contribute “how-to” stories and explainer pieces.

Do you have at least 5 years’ experience in journalism, an eagerness to  work with data, and an interest in the world of charities, foundations, and big philanthropists? Are you game for more professional development in collecting, analyzing, and using data to bolster your journalism? If this describes you, send your resume, a lively cover letter explaining why you’re right for the job, and 3 to 5 samples of published work to copsearch@chronicle.com. Finalists will be given a writing test.

The Chronicle is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
