The Publication Editor and Outreach Coordinator for Public Information serves as frontline editor for Public Information Office content (i.e., news releases, brochures, newsletter, etc.) and must have extensive experience with AP style; maintains outreach programs and performs other duties. Writing and editing samples must be submitted with application.

The position is responsible for assisting the Public Information Office in implementing a comprehensive communications program for the County through the dissemination of information; to include the writing and editing of news releases and other material for publication; promoting County policies, programs, services and special events; answering media inquiries and facilitating media interviews, planning special events; serving as a spokesperson on issues affecting County operations. This position may be required to work at any time during the day or night in situations where emergencies warrant media relations or control.

The position regularly interacts with County employees and occasionally with Council, elected officials, representatives of the print, radio and television media as well as the general public. This position may be assigned special projects and other responsibilities as required. The position reports to and works under the limited supervision of the Director of Public Information.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Journalism or other closely related field.  Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Journalism and be skilled in AP Style writing.  Must have a valid state driver's license.
