Description:

We’re looking for an Assistant Copy Editor who is excited about perfecting the written word as a member of a collaborative, fast-paced production team. In this position, you will serve as a resource for the copy editor team and assist with quality checks for Coffey’s content projects. As a member of the Coffey team, you will be responsible for communicating with your team members at all stages of production. You will be required to juggle and prioritize multiple projects to meet daily production deadlines.

Our corporate office is located in Walla Walla, Washington. This position would require you to join us here (warm welcome included). 

What you’ll do:

  • Check client-supplied phone numbers and web addresses for accuracy. Call phone numbers and update specs as needed.
  • Double-check client proof changes as needed.
  • Make copy corrections in InDesign after internal proofreading and clients’ reviews. Become familiar with specs for each client.
  • Meet all deadlines for assigned tasks. Able to plan and manage time efficiently and to handle more than one project at a time. Able to quickly shift between tasks.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing or communications or related fields.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service orientation.
  • Feeling comfortable making cold phone calls.
  • Familiarity with AP (Associate Press) style.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
