Description:

Are you a reporter looking for an opportunity to grow in an award-winning newsroom?

If you care about community journalism but also see the value in enterprise and investigative reporting, The Daily Republic newspaper in Mitchell, S.D., is a great place to work. We’re a six-day-a-week newspaper located about one hour west of Sioux Falls.

We have two openings: Education/features reporter and city reporter.

If you’re a recent college graduate or looking to make a jump to the daily beat, our newsroom has won the state’s Outstanding Young Journalist Award three out of the past four years at our state’s newspaper convention.

Other applicants we will consider are veteran writers with a rigorous reporting drive and knowledge of beat coverage. We want to work with energic reporters who are always wondering what’s going on.

We’ve also won the Sweepstakes category at the South Dakota Newspaper Association convention six straight years. That means we consistently take home the most awards in our circulation division.

We’re a talented newsroom looking for talented people. We have a strong focus on our website, mitchellrepublic.com, and ensure our print edition continues to be the source of information for our community. We’re a division of Forum Communications Co., based out of Fargo, N.D.

If you’re interested in joining The Daily Republic, send your resume, writing samples and cover letter to Managing Editor Luke Hagen at lhagen@mitchellrepublic.com.
