The Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming’s statewide newspaper and top media organization, is seeking a talented reporter with strong investigative and storytelling skills to join our news team.

Wyoming is the reddest state in the Union, which creates an anything-goes environment at the Capitol, where fewer politicians are tied to party and more speak their minds. This means an endless number of political stories beyond the typical sides on the left and right.

In addition to the statehouse, you will cover our Washington delegation as it weighs in on local and national issues. You will be the state’s political watchdog.

Enterprise reporting is a must here. We’re looking for candidates who are as comfortable filing FOIAs and asking tough questions of government leaders as they are sharing a cup of coffee with a rancher. Digital skills are also required – we want someone who is striving to break stories and find creative ways to tell them online.

This is a senior beat, with opportunity for impactful journalism that sifts through the dirt and half-truths to explain the issues. We emphasize investigative stories and projects.

The successful candidate will have excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to deliver on deadline and manage multiple priorities. You’ll need a bachelor’s degree and excellent verbal skills. Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of government reporting experience. You will hit the ground running, covering major elections this fall and a full legislative session beginning in January.

We take pride in being our state’s largest and most important media voice. In January, we were named the best daily newspaper in Wyoming. Our reporters regularly take home awards at state and regional competitions.

Outside the newsroom, Wyoming offers endless outdoor opportunities. We’re at the base of a beautiful mountain range where you can hike in the summer and ski in the winter. Camping and world-class fishing are just a short drive out of town. Casper boasts a small-town feel with big city offerings of restaurants, shopping and the arts. And if you’re missing the big city, Denver is an easy drive.

The Casper Star-Tribune is a Lee Enterprises news organization. We offer an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid holidays and vacation. We are an equal opportunity employer. You can see our website at and learn more about our company at
