PolitiFact is hiring a fact-checker to scrutinize television and radio personalities, media columnists and popular Internet bloggers. We’re looking for a digitally savvy, details-first truth seeker with a thick skin who can be an independent voice for our readers and American voters.

The job is to lead our PunditFact project, which launched in 2013 to hold pundits and members of the media accountable for the things they say. The ideal candidate has a journalism background with at least three years of reporting experience, a track record of being a self-starter and strong digital reporting chops. You, of course, also have to be okay watching a lot of cable television, and you need to be able to process information quickly.

PolitiFact is a 10-person organization split between Washington, D.C., and St. Petersburg, Fla. Everyone chips in, and every position is important. The PunditFact reporter could be based in either location. We would also consider a remote working assignment.

PolitiFact is a project of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. So in addition to working with a Pulitzer Prize-winning team, you'll be working alongside some of the most respected journalism teachers in the world. If you think this is a job for you, send your resume, a writing sample and a letter outlining an idea to make PunditFact more effective to hiring8@poynter.org with the subject line “PUNDITFACT OPENING”. We want to hear from you by March 23, 2018.  Click here to see job description.
