Criminal Justice Reporter

The Bulletin, a 30,000 daily circulation newspaper, is seeking an experienced criminal justice reporter with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact, relevant stories. This person will cover civil and criminal justice issues in Central Oregon, which includes Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.

The ideal candidate will be a watchdog reporter who continually seeks out the issues that are critical to our readership and reports news that goes beyond the police blotter and court docket. This person should be able to own the beat, doggedly pursue stories and elevate simple civil lawsuits and crime stories into evocative and meaningful narratives.

Extensive research ability and experience working with public document databases and filing FOIAs is required. Knowledge of court proceedings and legal systems is preferred.
