Description:

Evanston Now, an independent digital news publication serving Evanston, Illinois, seeks an enterprising reporter/editor.

Founded in 2006, Evanston Now has the largest audience of any publication in this competitive media submarket just north of Chicago, and we’re expanding our staff.

Evanston is home to 75,000 people and to Northwestern University. Its population is diverse and highly educated.

The reporter/editor will cover community meetings and breaking news, conduct interviews, generate and develop story ideas and edit submissions from community contributors.

You’ll take photos to illustrate your stories. You’ll know your way around a spreadsheet and create informative charts to illuminate stories. Video, analytics and social media skills a major plus.

You’ll work primarily from your home office, which should be in or within a couple miles of Evanston. Driver’s license and car required.

Flexible schedule, but requires evening meetings and occasional weekend work.

You have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, and significant experience in the field.
