Title: Web Content Editor

Department/Division: Editorial Department/Marketing & Communications Division

Supervisor: VP, Content Strategy/Editor-in-Chief

Summary of duties: As a member of the Editorial team working closely with ASAE Marketing & Communications group, provides front-line editorial oversight of ASAE online properties, primarily ASAEcenter.org and Association CareerHQ (ACHQ). Manages day-to-day content updates to ensure content is on strategy, well written, and communicated in ASAE’s voice and tone. Works with content owners to plan and maintain online content and manages annual site content audit. Contributes to content strategy and governance initiatives and development of synergies among ASAE content vehicles.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Reviews and edits new and updated content for ASAEcenter.org produced by other ASAE departments to ensure adherence to content strategy, ASAE voice and message, and web copywriting guidelines.
  • Maintains editorial calendar and solicits, edits, and publishes articles and blog posts for ACHQ.
  • Uploads, publishes, and maintains all Associations Now content on ASAEcenter.org (Associations Now Plus articles and Associations Now magazine content); assists editors in optimizing print content for web.
  • Provides social media posts and blurbs highlighting editorial content for ASAE social and email marketing channels.
  • Develops, maintains, and delivers on editorial calendar for curated content areas (e.g., topic pages, cross-promos, ASAE Foundation articles).
  • Manages annual full-site content audit to determine if existing content is current, needs revision, or needs to be archived.
  • Assists VP, Content Strategy, with developing and adjusting content management workflows for ASAE as a whole and for individual departments as needed.

  • Assists content owners in planning and developing new content to meet business needs.
  • Recommends site development or technology upgrades when needed to support content initiatives.
  • Curates ASAE and/or Associations Now content in external channels as assigned (e.g., Flipboard).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • College degree in communications or a related field. Concentration in digital media preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience writing, editing, and managing web content.
  • Strong internet literacy, with knowledge of web content best practices and digital content distribution channels.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency with content management systems and HTML.
  • Familiarity with email delivery systems (e.g., BlueHornet).
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently and as part of a team, keep others informed through clear written and oral communication, and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Superior attention to detail, strong organizational skills, enough flexibility and creativity to make midstream adjustments to achieve editorial and business goals in a fast-paced, multichannel environment.
