Editor in Chief, PopCrush.com – New York, NY

PopCrush, Townsquare Media’s pop music and entertainment site, is on the hunt for a rock star Editor in Chief who lives and breathes pop culture. Are you the friend who’s always the first to know about pop’s hottest new acts? Do you have a unique take on Katy Perry’s latest album promotional cycle? Are summer festivals the thing you look forward to all year?

In this role, you will oversee the daily editorial operation of the site, guiding the voice and brand to excellence. The ideal candidate knows how to drive breaking news on the web, execute one-of-a-kind features and packages, and has a keen eye for spotting The Next Big Thing. From covering Beyoncé’s tour kickoff to anchoring a video news report about Chris Pratt and Anna Faris’s split, this job will never be boring.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging editorial, social and video coverage of the latest news and trends in pop culture and entertainment with the goal to grow PopCrush’s core audiences on the website, on social media, and on YouTube
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of PopCrush.com and its staff of full-time and freelance writers and contributors to excellence
  • Work collaboratively with the video, social, radio, events and sales teams to create new franchises and programs

Requirements:

  • A BA in Journalism, English and/or an entertainment related field
  • 5+ years online editorial experience
  • 3+ years in entertainment journalism
  • Must be a top-notch writer and editor, detail-oriented, extremely organized, able to multitask and communicate effectively with freelancers and co-workers
  • Strong connections within the entertainment industry, to writers, labels, studios and publicists
  • Experience with Wordpress and HTML, Photoshop, SEO and Google Analytics or other analytics platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to drive traffic through organic search, social media and a loyal direct audience
