GET OUT OF YOUR REPORTER’S RUT and make the jump to management. The Star-News, the community newspaper serving the resort town of McCall, Idaho, and vicinity, is seeking a news editor to oversee all editorial content. This 4,000 circulation weekly newspaper is located in the playground of Boise, which is Idaho’s fast-growing state capital, and is in the center of the state’s premier recreational center. As such, the community and region must deal with providing services to a population much larger than its year-round residents. Current topics include managing growth, infrastructure, affordable housing, use of public lands, and water quality in addition to the unique institution that is small-town government. In addition, The Star-News is the community journal, providing comprehensive coverage of the area’s progressive arts and entertainment scene, schools, prep sports, and outdoors and recreation. The successful candidate will be mentored by a journalism professional who has guided the newspaper for the last 30 years and now wishes to withdraw from day-to-day involvement. Salary to be negotiated. To apply, send a resume and letter of interest to Tom Grote, Editor and Publisher, The Star-News, at starnews@frontier.com. Finalists will receive access to www.mccallstarnews.com in order to view archives of past issues.
