Larson Newspapers is seeking a part-time reporter and copy editor at the Sedona Red Rock News, located in the Verde Valley of Northern Arizona, south of Flagstaff. Small staff, long-time family-owned newspaper. A journalism degree or experience working at a newspaper is necessary. Knowledge of AP Style required. Though we have two full-time photojournalists, photography skills are a plus for assignments they are unable to attend.

The position is 40%-50% copy editing, 50%-60% reporting, 40 hours/week total. Applicants will assist managing editor and and senior copy editor with the Sedona Red Rock News (twice weekly), Cottonwood Journal Extra (weekly), The Camp Verde Journal (weekly), The Village View (monthly) and 10 to 15 special tabs throughout the year. The news beat is two to three stories per week. The beat includes news stories in Sedona and feature stories, lifestyles, profiles, arts and other general assignment and breaking news coverage across Sedona and the Verde Valley. Knowledge of social media posting of news content also preferred. Social media skills a plus as we have a very active social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) presence in our communities. We have two full-time photojournalists, but photography skills a plus.

Reporters can choose to live anywhere in the Verde Valley (Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Oak Creek Canyon, Page Springs, Cornville, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale, Jerome, Rimrock, Lake Montezuma).
