Courthouse News Service, a California-based legal news service, is seeking a reporter to cover civil court filings in and around Chittenden County. A legal background is not required, but demonstrated interest and ability in journalism is necessary. 

The job will entail visiting the superior court clerk's office in downtown Burlington every weekday afternoon, as well as driving to other area courts on a rotating schedule throughout the week, to review and summarize new civil complaints. The reporter will also be expected to pitch and write legal news stories in Vermont on a regular basis. Competitive pay is offered for approximately 15-20 hours per week, and some benefits are available.
