Social Media Editor
Newsweek seeks a sharp, motivated, creative, analytical Social Media Editor to manage and grow our social footprint across the web. The position goes far beyond simply posting to social platforms. You will work closely with editorial, social, and video teams to consistently identify the right content for social, shape our voice online, and help develop and execute big picture social strategies.
Roles And Responsibilities
Grow audience, traffic, and engagement across all social channels
Manage daily production and distribution of content across social channels
Write smart, sharp, conversational social copy that defines and reflects our unique voice on social
Work directly with editorial and video teams to consistently identify strong social content to be covered
Analyze social data and develop reports to inform editorial and video teams of successful content, trends and tactics to repeat
Periodically assist in weekend and live event social coverage
Stay on top of social marketing news and trends and pivot tactics and strategy as necessary
Exceptional communication, writing, and social copy skills
Experience working in social media and utilizing/managing major social channels
Experience with social and web analytics (Facebook Insights, Twitter analytics, Google Analytics, Chartbeat)
News junkie who cares about topics spanning world events, politics, tech, science, health, business, and more
Understanding of socially-popular news content and how to research and identify said content
Knowledge of how to create and source social assets (social videos, GIFs, images)
Knowledge of visual content creation, photo and video editing skills a huge plus
Organized and detail-oriented
Ability to balance a creative and analytical approach to the position
