Interactive Content Services is a quickly growing digital media company providing editorial content to more than 300 websites and newspapers across the country. We are seeking several freelance journalists to add to our team for remote-based contract writing positions.

Applicants should be capable of delivering clear and factual content on tight deadlines, as well as be comfortable with AP style guidelines. Accuracy is a critical skill of candidates, as an ICS writer will be expected to fulfill a number of responsibilities, including researching background information about various topics, conducting exclusive interviews, writing interview-based articles, fact-checking and providing consistently professional writing for the company's various clients.

Applicants should be located within North America, have high-speed internet and be familiar with basic internet programs and platforms, such as Skype, email, social media and call recorders. Pay per completed piece ranges from $4 for short rewrites of press releases to $175 for in-depth, investigative work. Motivated ICS writers will have the opportunity to complete several assignments per week. Many of our writers are able to generate income above what they would be able to in a similar hourly position locally.

This is a stable freelance opportunity, ideally suited for self-motivated writers. Additionally, there is room for growth, with opportunities for more assignments, for exceptional candidates seeking long-term work. Position: Digital copy editor

Treatment: 1099 Independent Contractor

Time: Flexible

Location: Remote

Pay: $15/hr

We produce a wide variety of written content, including finished pages for newspapers around the U.S. and news stories for web-based publications, on hard deadlines every day in a virtual newsroom that uses a browser-based CMS, InDesign CS4, Adobe PDFs and Google documents, as well as basic in-house systems. Our staff is far-flung, but Slack and Gmail allow us to banter and interact like a well-seasoned copy desk, so continual, reliable access to the Internet is required.   

We are seeking: A tech-savvy self-starter looking to work as part of a team of writers, editors and page designers. You will edit and rewrite stories using AP Style, format data and coordinate with other editors. Our content is basic and similar in tone week to week; you will fact-check and edit for style, grammar and spelling, along with rewriting as needed. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced deadline environment. Previous professional editing experience is a MUST; daily news production experience is preferred.
