Beaver Dam Partners Inc. is seeking a reporter for Wareham Week, a weekly newspaper with a continually updated website serving the Town of Wareham on the South Coast of Massachusetts.
The ideal candidate will:
-- Have a journalism degree and/or some professional news reporting experience.
-- Be a concise, clean, engaging writer who is energized by the fast pace of the news business and the opportunity to turn around lots of stories quickly.
-- Be able to take and edit eye-catching news and feature photos.
-- Enjoy becoming part of a community, talking with strangers, calling officials who may (or may not) want to talk to you, chatting up people at a community event.
-- Be interested in learning the ins and outs and history and quirks of local issues and institutions.
-- Be ready to report and write stories about everything local: Municipal meetings, schools, police, courts, sports, arts, features, people profiles, community events, etc., etc., etc. You don't have to know a lot about any specific subject going in -- but you have to posssess the willingness and enthusiasm to learn!
-- Be organized, efficient and able to work well independently and in a small team.
-- Be willing to relocate to live in (in -- not near) Wareham, MA.
