Freelance business writers wanted

As a weekly business publication covering nine counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the Business Observer is always on the hunt for great stories covering local entrepreneurs, companies and industries.

Currently, we’re seeking experienced freelancers to write about businesses in our coverage area, from Polk to Collier counties.

We’re interested in stories that delve into how businesses have formed their current strategy, how they’re finding and managing growth, and how they’re overcoming challenges common to business owners in general, such as finding capital, recruiting and creating a good corporate culture.

Our audience is composed of educated, ambitious business leaders who want to learn about how others are navigating the hurdles in their industry, as well as get the economic and trend information they need to make smart decisions for their business.

Our freelancers earn between $250 and $500 per story, depending on length and complexity.

Sorry, no telecommuting: You must live in Southwest Florida to apply.

If you’re excited about the possibility of writing about local businesses for our publication, please email Managing Editor Mark Gordon at with your resume, 3-5 clips of your work and 3-5 story ideas for the area. Please include “Freelance Writer” in your subject line.

No phone calls, please.
