The Emporia Gazette of Emporia, Kansas, is a family-owned newspaper with an amazing staff who likes to work hard and have fun.
The Emporia Gazette is Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper with a famous community journalism history. We have an opening for a reporter who enjoys writing, wants to grow in their career, and be part of a great team.
We are looking for a person with sharp reporting instincts, outstanding news judgment, an ability to report and write quickly in a fast-moving atmosphere. A curiosity about the community and its people is vital. Writing duties include general assignment writing, feature writing, meeting coverage and sports recaps. We care about your interests and will shape beats accordingly to play to your interests and strengths.
We work as a team and the person must have the ability to work productively in a team setting.
Your work will appear in newspapers, websites, and social media. Salary based on experience. We offer health benefits, 401(k) and two weeks vacation. Emporia is on the edge of the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills one hour away from major Kansas cities like Kansas City, Wichita and Topeka.
