Description:
 Byrum & Fisk Advocacy Communications, an East Lansing-based communications firm with local, state and national clients, is looking for a full-time special projects manager.

The special projects manager will:

  • Play a key role in developing and implementing public relations and media strategies to create awareness of our clients and their activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key communicators in the print, online, radio and broadcast media who cover topics related to our wide array of clients
  • Generate written materials on behalf of our clients
  • Arrange, coordinate and promote media events
  • Respond to media inquiries and pitch stories relating to our clients’ efforts
  • Monitor progress on PR/media relations efforts and collect clips
  • Work hours and schedule as needed to complete projects
  • Travel as needed

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or greater) in journalism, communications, political science or a related field
  • Experience and proven results in communications or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Journalism or professional writing background is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media and Web communications
  • Research prowess
  • American-made, union-built automobile
  • emocratic values a must, and experience in Democratic/progressive campaigns is a plus
