Description:

 The Bigfork Eagle in Bigfork, Montana, seeks an energetic reporter with strong photography skills and great page design abilities to continue our award-winning tradition. The winning candidate will take great pleasure in surpassing our already high expectations. The fact that you get to live in a great small town on the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi is just a fringe benefit. And yes, we pay you too!

We are looking for an all-purpose journalist who is competent and experienced in all aspects of community news, including sports coverage, photography and page design. We use DTI to build pages in InDesign. Previous experience with either program is a plus, as is experience using Photoshop. We also want to be first on the web with local news and are proud of our effortsa to increase our branding through social media such as Facebook.

Bigfork is a resort community located on Flathead Lake and near several wilderness areas. It offers year-round recreational opportunities and is within 50 miles of Glacier National Park and two ski resorts. The position includes a generous health insurance benefit. You will need a reliable vehicle, a good driving record and proof of insurance. A post offer/ pre-employment drug test is also required.

The winning candidate will work with the editor to cover Bigfork news, sports and featrtes, as well as news related to Flathead Lake and Flathead County. The Bigfork Eagle is part of the Hagadone Montana Newspapers group, which includes seven weeklies and one daily in Northwest Montana. Circulation is approximately 1,000.
