Basic Qualifications
• BA in journalism or related liberal arts degree; at least 1 year work experience in print or online publications or related field in lieu of BA will be considered (college newspaper experience helpful).
• Proficient with Adobe InDesign some Photoshop is preferable.
• Excellent time management and ability to work well under deadline pressures.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation
• Ability to conduct in-person and telephone interviews
• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, decision making, and priority-setting skills.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Candidate must be able to write clearly and concisely under deadline pressure.

We are looking for local candidates who are familiar with the Jacksonville/Camp Lejeune Area. We DO NOT offer relocation allowance.

The sports reporter/editor is responsible for the copy, photos and layout of the sports section. We are a weekly newspaper.
Hours are generally Monday to Friday 8-5, but you will be required to work some nights and/or weekends.

You must be able to provide samples of sport-related articles and page layouts.
