Description:

RESEARCH FELLOW SOUGHT AT THE POINT REYES LIGHT, MARIN COUNTY, CALIF. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Point Reyes Light, located in coastal Marin County, California, is seeking a new fellow to join our small newsroom. We are an independent weekly print newspaper covering the environmental, agricultural, cultural and civic life of coastal Marin's communities with in-depth, rigorous reporting. Our fellows are allowed to produce thoughtful, well-researched writing right off the bat. With our help, they pursue the art of "village journalism," conducting themselves with sensitivity in our vibrant and complex rural community. Fellows produce roughly 1,500 words per week and are paid a monthly $500 stipend. We regularly receive top awards from the National Newspaper Association. Applicants should have a passion for storytelling and the confidence to converse with people from all walks of life. They will have opportunities to write hard news, features, art and book reviews and in-depth obituaries. They must be creative and self-motivated, with a record of accuracy, productivity and respect for deadlines. They should want to work hard. Please send a resume, cover letter and at least five published clips to Tess Elliott at editor@ptreyeslight.com. To see our work online, please visit ptreyeslight.com.
