Description:

J., the Jewish news weekly of Northern California, has an opening for a full-time staff reporter working from our office in San Francisco’s Financial District. We are looking for an excellent writer/reporter with a journalism background, someone who can turn around a story quickly with style and accuracy. Is your writing compelling, crisp and colorful? Can you interview multiple news sources over the phone, or in person, and turn that into an article that is organized, informative and a good read? If so, we’d like to hear from you.

The successful applicant has Jewish knowledge and a passion for covering the Jewish community. You have strong reporting skills and are comfortable handling a range of assignments, from breaking news to celebrity interviews to in-depth features. Social media facility is a must. We only hire writers who have professional news experience and can send us clips of their work. You must either live in the Bay Area or be willing to relocate at your own expense. The position is full time with benefits and starts September 15. To apply, send a resume and cover letter, along with several clips that represent your best writing, to J. Editor Sue Fishkoff at jobs@jweekly.com.
