Description:

Under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer, the staff writer is responsible for writing for a variety of digital and print materials that capture the brand of our college and the stories of our faculty, students, alumni, and donors. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate different writing styles and voice across a wide variety of materials. The candidate must be able to write a lengthy, well-developed feature story for the alumni magazine as well as short, snappy, compelling text for the website, advertisements, and recruitment brochures. The staff writer must have excellent interviewing skills and be able to confidently work with faculty, administration, and alumni from around the world. Our communications office is set up as a creative team. The candidate must be able to work as a team player, be flexible, and be a creative problem-solver who thrives on ad hoc brainstorming sessions. The position also will be tasked with occasional editing duties, and supports our media relations program.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or related field; 2-4 years’ experience as a writer or similar position with extensive writing. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
