ROLE:

The Web Producer will create and publish unique local content for FOXCT.com websites, partnering with The Hartford Courant to bring viewers fresh and captivating stories and news. The Producer will be very knowledgeable and savvy, honing in on multimedia/social media platform ideas and technical know-how for the WTIC FOX CT newsroom. The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for spotting trending stories and highlight them with compelling content while emphasizing original digital video content. Extensive background in social media, SEO and other platforms to grow FOXCT.com’sdigital audience and engage the viewers to keep them interested and entertained is essential for this position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Make WTIC FOX CT the premier station for breaking news stories  and the latest updates.
•  Utilize social media platforms using the latest tools and techniques to highlight WTIC FOX CT content.
•  Keep a sharp eye out for stories that go viral in order to respond in a quick and timely manner.
•  Discover raw video and visual content that has the potential to go viral and promote it.
•  Produce periodic special projects with an angle and focus on local news.
•  Use Web metric tools to increase viewer participation.
•  Keep up on growing trends in the social and multimedia platforms.
•  Be a champion for best web journalism practices that are fair, accurate and honest.

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, plus 2-3 years of  experience in Web news production.
•  Working knowledge of a range of content management systems.
•  Subject matter expert in the use of social media in promoting and distributing news.
•  Fascination and passion for the digital presentation of news stories.
•  Eagerness to learn about the latest digital tools.
•  Willing to experiment with new ways to tell news stories
•  Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and keep calm under pressure.
•  Possess sound news judgment and the ability to develop news stories within deadlines.
