Description:

Correspondent: The Associated Press seeks an English-language correspondent in Caracas, Venezuela. The reporter/writer/multimedia journalist will be responsible primarily for spot news and enterprise in Venezuela with some additional regional responsibilities. The journalist will be expected to break news and also shoot photos and video, producing in traditional and new storytelling formats. The journalist should be familiar with the region. She/he reports to the bureau chief for Venezuela, Colombia and Panama, and collaborates with a local team of Spanish-language journalists. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a proven track record of publishing exclusives, quick, accurate and captivating deadline writing and social media engagement. Photography and/or video skills are necessary. Ability to work in a high-stress, volatile environment like Venezuela is a must. Experience with a daily newspaper or news service a plus. Complete fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required. The successful candidate must be able to work flexible work schedules, including evening, weekend and holiday shifts in accordance with business needs. Authorization to work in Venezuela is mandatory.
