ICIS, an Internet-based, real-time, 24-hour global newswire serving the chemical sector, seeks a fast and accurate reporter for its Houston news bureau.

ICIS is the world's biggest information provider to the global energy and petrochemical industries, with more than 700 staff and major offices in Houston, London, Singapore, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Duties include gathering information, writing news and feature stories and editing copy. The position will offer travel opportunities within the US and abroad.

Candidates should ideally have at least two years of journalism experience and a demonstrated commitment to a journalism career, with a degree in journalism or English and experience as a reporter for a daily newspaper, wire service or other fast-paced media. An ability to thrive under the day-to-day pressure of real-time reporting is a must.

The successful applicant will be articulate and numerate, with strong writing and interviewing skills will be accompanied by fluency in spoken English. Other language skills - especially Spanish or Portuguese - would be an asset.

Knowledge of the chemical or energy sector is a plus.

Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the United States. The position is full-time and has standard working hours, usually around 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Compensation will be competitive and will match the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. The package includes access to a choice of health insurance plans, and 18 days paid time off during the first two years, rising to 23 days at the start of year three. Employees are also allowed two paid days per year to undertake volunteer work of their choosing.
