Assistant Professor in Video/TV

The State University of New York College at Old Westbury invites applications for a tenure-track position in video and television at the rank of Assistant Professor effective Fall 2014.  The successful candidate must have an MFA degree in media or equivalent Ph.D. in a related field with substantial professional experience in non-fiction media production or journalism and a strong record of successful teaching at the college level.  Experience utilizing new media platforms, social media, or citizen media for community engagement or social justice preferred.  Experience teaching an ethnically diverse, working student body and using new media platforms in teaching preferred.  Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.  

Principal responsibilities include teaching video/TV production, journalism and media studies (analysis courses).  Professional responsibilities include consistently good teaching, professional and scholarly activities (Creative media production, exhibitions, festivals, conferences, publications, citations, reviews, grant writing, etc.), participation in department meetings and committees, student media, student advisement, and college service.  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

The College at Old Westbury is among the most diverse colleges in the United States.  The campus is situated on 604 wooded acres on Long Island, 20 miles east of Manhattan.
