Description:

The Journalism Department in the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, renewable term appointment at the instructor or assistant professor level, starting in August 2014.

The Department of Journalism is a part of Quinnipiac’s School of Communications. The School emphasizes a commitment to academic excellence, diversity, inclusiveness and shared governance and embraces the teacher/scholar model of higher education. The School has approximately 1,000 undergraduate students in journalism, public relations, media studies, and film, video and interactive media. The School also offers graduate programs in journalism, public relations and interactive communications.

Quinnipiac University is a thriving private university with 6,500 undergraduate and 2,300 graduate students, located in Hamden, Connecticut, approximately 90 minutes from New York City and two hours from Boston. Consistently ranked among the best universities byU.S. News & World Report and recently named one of the 2013 Great Colleges to Work For by The Chronicle of Higher Education, Quinnipiac offers 58 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate and professional programs, including those leading to degrees in both law and medicine. The successful candidate will teach four classes per semester, advise students, and perform limited school and university service obligations. Teaching areas will include multimedia journalism, with an emphasis on public affairs reporting, community reporting, and covering government and politics.

Applicants should have a Master's degree or higher in journalism or a closely related field, a minimum of 7 years professional journalism experience, and recent and relevant teaching experience at the college or university level.
