Are you a news reporter who is passionate about investigative, analytical journalism? Do you love digging up facts and then using your writing ability to tell a good story?
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is looking for reporters who can skillfully cover breaking news events on deadline, in between putting together longer-term non-deadline pot stirrers.
We want a self-starter who wants to land on the front page, someone who is driven to excel but also comfortable working as part of a team.
We're looking for:
— Proven track record covering deadline news. Do you end up on the front page because of how well you report and write your stories?
— Clips showing how productive you are when news is slow.
— Experience in mining computerized data for deep-impact stories that affect real people.
— An eagerness to get out of the office and find stories.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is a family-owned newspaper, with a daily circulation of nearly 180,000 and a Sunday circulation of about 267,000. The newspaper is based in Little Rock, the Arkansas capital, and has two print editions. The paper also has an edition in Northwest Arkansas.
We cover the entire state and, if the story warrants, we go beyond Arkansas' borders. We take pride in the journalism we practice and are looking for people who want to hone their skills, whether in reporting, copy editing, page design or photography.
Little Rock is Arkansas' largest city, with a population near 200,000, and the city offers a vibrant downtown cultural scene and a variety of unique neighborhoods. Outdoor activities are popular here, include hiking, camping, rock climbing, hunting and fishing.
