Job Description:

As Editor, you will be a business-savvy, enthusiastic, industrious leader of the magazine, working on continued growth in terms of voice, readership, industry recognition, and brand development. Your role will require you to go above and beyond the editorial production of the magazine to marry the magazine’s business development with its content, working with the sales department to conceptualize ventures for business growth. As Editor, you must continually improve our relationship with our readers and advertisers—providing effective and useful editorial that exceeds our clients’ expectations and generates sales results.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small production team in the creation and editing of our print and digital edition, website, and social-media channels
  • Network within the Hispanic market to develop partnerships and avenues for growth
  • Work across departments to conceptualize and implement an editorial strategy that amplifies business goals
  • Take initiative as the leader of your team and embody Guerrero Howe’s core values: Positive Attitude, Next Level, Does Whatever it Takes, Confidence in Self and Company, and Team Player

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field:

 

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience at a publication—as an editor, managing editor, or equivalent
  • Marketing experience a plus

 

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Understanding of the business side of publications and media
  • Ability to lead and motivate others
  • Ability to generate creative ideas in an environment of aggressive growth
  • Experience with Adobe Create Suite a plus
  • Experience with Wordpress or equivalent online CMS a plus

 

Compensation:

Salary: DOE.  This position offers health/dental benefits and more than three weeks of paid vacation time.
