STATEMENT OF THE JOB: Working under the supervision of the VP of Audience, the Circulation director assumes overall administration of the circulation and distribution departments, its employees and all the many details that entails.  Included would be hiring, motivating, disciplining and directing employees and the daily functions of the departments.  Goal setting and promotion development in increase paid circulation and revenue is required.  This position also requires preparing the annual budget, projecting expenses and revenues.


  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a circulation or distribution department.
  • Must be able to interact with employees and customers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must have transportation, valid driver’s license and furnish proof of insurance on vehicle.


  • Manage circulation and distribution employees. 
  • Coordinate with independent contracted drivers and carriers.
  • Maintaining proper records for circulation audit reports. 
  • Participate with publisher and department heads in preparing budget and strategic plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the publisher.


Professional office environment, some overnight travel may be required. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, but may vary, depending upon circumstances. Individual will be expected to dress in a professional manner.
