Description:

The New York Law Journal is the paper of record for the legal community in New York State. The Law Journal provides authoritative coverage of issues of importance to New York lawyers about state and federal courts, law firms, legal decisions, law schools, non profit groups, government agencies and bar associations.

This position also offers an enterprising journalist an opportunity to build the Law Journal’s digital presence and make the digital NYLJ a must-read for the next generation of New York lawyers, regardless of whether they practice in large or small firms, agencies, government or academia. This editor will not only contribute to the delivery of breaking news, but will develop digital-only content in the form of single articles, series and special packages and deliver them through whatever platform our readers want. This is an opportunity to help make the New York Law Journal a competitive player in the digital delivery of news to the New York legal community.

The position of managing editor-digital requires a candidate with expertise in digital delivery of news in all platforms, from web to apps to social media and beyond. The ME will be responsible for monitoring traffic on the web and working to maximize all platforms to deliver Law Journal content to as many readers as possible.

The ME-digital must have strong news sense; experience reporting, writing, editing, writing headlines and working with reporters to develop stories and improve copy. The ME-digital will assist in building the day’s news editions for online and print, report when needed, edit copy, write headlines and interact with reporters and other editors.

In addition, the ME-digital will be responsible for creating digital-only content enhanced through the use of graphics, interactive displays, videos, webcasts created around NYLJ content, etc. 

The ME-digital will work with the digital production team to make sure all content is uploaded on schedule and will assist in enhancing the content where necessary. The ME-digital will also have administrative duties, including attending in-house meetings on digital developments and issues.
