Senior Copywriter

Primary Responsibilities:

Campaign Strategy Development (25%)

  • Research pharmaceutical client brands and participate in calls with account team to gather input from client brand team to develop a messaging strategy
  • Develop campaign overview documentation for client review and approval prior to drafting copy

Writing (30%)

  • Develop high-quality marketing communications for the mobile/electronic environment that are consistent with the brand’s overall marketing strategy and meet the Epocrates Sponsored Content standards and product technical specifications
  • Select appropriate graphics for inclusion in messaging as needed and work with Operations team to generate production-ready image files
  • Present draft copy to clients via phone, webcast, or in person and gather feedback for revisions
  • Revise copy according to client and internal review cycles while maintaining adherence to the Epocrates Sponsored Content standards and product technical specifications

Content Development Coordination (30%)

  • Partner with Copywriters and Content Editors to determine division of labor for all campaigns
  • Share knowledge with Copywriters and Content Editors about campaign, brand, therapeutic class as needed to ensure efficient and high-quality content is delivered by all contributors to every project
  • Assist Manager in defining processes, workflows, and policies

Annotation (15%)

  • Annotate content to support all claims with primary/secondary references according to client Regulatory submission requirements

Primary Skills and Critical Competencies:

  • Experience writing for the electronic environment required; experience writing for mobile environments preferred
  • Ability to understand pharmaceutical client product lines, their features and benefits, marketing objectives, and the industry's competitive environment
  • Proven talent in creative conception and medical/pharmaceutical copywriting
  • In-depth knowledge of advertising techniques and marketing principles. Ability to analyze complex scientific data and interpret it for promotional application while maintaining a clinical tone

  • Experience writing content in a broad range of therapeutic areas
  • Customer service orientation with good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle high volume of simultaneous projects accurately and on deadline
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple groups/departments (eg, Account Management, Operations, Product Management)
  • Self-starter who can work independently to solve problems creatively and prioritize tasks
  • Comfort using technology
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro

Experience:3--5 years of work experience in medical/pharmaceutical copywriting, preferably with healthcare agency experience

Education: Bachelor's degree required; BS in biology, life science, or public health preferred
