Description:

Distinguish yourself as you help to improve the quality of patient care

The College of American Pathologists (CAP), founded in 1946, has had more impact than any other organization on the standardization and improvement of clinical laboratory procedures.  Headquartered just north of Chicago, with a satellite office in D.C., the CAP is the second largest medical association in the US, as measured by revenues.  It is the largest medical association exclusively made up of board-certified pathologists supporting the specialty of pathology. In 2012, the CAP was recognized in the Chicago Tribune Top Workplaces special section.

The CAP is committed to pathologists’ success today and tomorrow.  In response to the changing health care environment, the CAP is spearheading a multiyear transformation effort that will have an enormous impact on the way pathologists practice and organize; how clinical colleagues, patients, and others in the medical community perceive them; and how the reimbursement for pathologists’ services is structured.

The Associate Editor, CAP TODAY, will handle the reviews of stories (by sending stories to sources and incorporating their input as appropriate), copy edit stories and press releases, request photos, proofread, and write.  The Associate Editor will also review, update, and write content for captodayonline.com. Travel to one or two trade shows per year.

Qualified candidates will have writing and editing abilities commensurate with an editing position in professional business publishing. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is necessary.
