We’re looking for a reporter who understands that government coverage is about the issues and not the meetings; the taxpayers and not the politicians. We’re seeking a professional who is allergic to jargon, embraces alternative story forms and produces multimedia content.

Northwest Arkansas Newspapers seeks a writer to cover municipal government, including police, in Bentonville, Ark., home to the world’s largest retailer, a world-class museum and a region named by several institutions and publications as one of the best places to live and work in the country.

The successful candidate must have a degree in journalism or a related field and knowledge of AP style. The best candidate will demonstrate an understanding of municipal government, a clear, inviting writing style and organization, and a desire to write enterprise stories. Experience at a daily newspaper is preferred; however, entry-level applicants with strong clips will be considered.

Work schedule will include nights and occasional weekend duty. Applicants must have good driving record and valid driver’s license.

We offer a competitive salary and a full benefits package including medical with prescription coverage and 401K.

If interested, send resume with cover letter, clips and salary history to:  Bentonville Reporter, Northwest Arkansas Newspapers, PO Box 7, Springdale AR  72765 or e-mail (put Bentonville Reporter Position in subject line).
