Description:

Central Maine daily newspapers the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel seek a design and copy editor who can create crisp and engaging front page designs to help us tell stories in innovative ways. We seek someone who has a passion for and sense of urgency about news, can write accurate, compelling headlines that focus on the tension in a story and why it's important, and has the ability to set and change priorities when handling breaking news.

Responsibilities include designing and paginating the front page as well as some copy editing, and it's a must to work collaboratively, efficiently and with accuracy on deadline. Experience at designing daily newspaper section fronts is required, as is a passion for and knowledge of news, both local and national, knowledge of AP style and a strong command of the English language. Also helpful is experience with newspaper websites and social media, and knowledge of InDesign or InCopy.
