Description:

FedScoop is looking to add a full-time reporter to cover cybersecurity, national security, and technology within the Department of Defense.

 

Candidates should have at least 2-3 years' experience in cyber/defense reporting or related IT fields, and already have sources and connections within federal agencies. An outgoing personality and go-getter mentality is a definite plus!


Our office is located in the heart of Georgetown, just off Wisconsin Avenue.


Job responsibilities:

 

-Writing enterprise stories on cybersecurity as it relates to the federal government.

 

-Occasional audio and video interview work (potential to do weekly podcast and conduct on-camera interviews at events).

 

-Covering quick spot news and announcements related to cybersecurity, mobile security, cloud security, and the Defense Department budget.

 

-Attending and covering related events to stay on top of emerging trends and strengthen ties with the federal IT community.


Skills:

 

-Outstanding news judgment, with an ability to report and write on tight deadlines.

 

-Ability to hit the ground running and work independently as well as part of a team.

 

-Strong grasp of grammar, attention to detail and exceptional people skills.

 

-Working knowledge of AP Style.

 

-Knowledge of SEO and WordPress preferred.
