EXECUTIVE EDITOR

The Carlisle Sentinel seeks a proven leader to direct and oversee the newsroom, online content, and social platforms.  As executive editor you will utilize your knowledge, experience, and ability to implement innovative ideas that will lead directly to growth of The Sentinel’s audience across all traditional and multimedia platforms.  You’ll supervise local staff, manage and write the opinion page, and oversee all newsroom functions.  Additionally, the executive editor will play a vital role on the management team, which determines short and long-term strategy and implements the tactics necessary to grow our franchise. 

The successful applicant will know how to practice and teach great journalism, create direction, network, and build audience interest and loyalty. They will have a track record of leading a staff to create consistently compelling story-telling, eye-popping design, and consistent product improvement.  Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task across multiple platforms and meet deadlines are a necessity.  You will have a vital role in our community, serving our readers with vigorously reported content and sharply edited local news.   A passion for local community journalism is a must.

A Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or a related field with three to five years of experience in news management, reporting, and editing is preferred.
