Description:

Major news organization seeks experienced homepage editors with a passion for the news and the news industry. Successful candidates will have solid news judgment, an instinct for programming, as well as strong social media skills and experience.

Tell us if you have longed for a more visual and flexible platform for packaging and promoting news content; we want to hear from candidates who struggled (but succeeded) with the experience of programming news for a static home page template. If you have a demonstrated record of click-thru rate success and know how to program a homepage for growth, we're interested.

These editors will work closely with our social media department and will be expected to keep our news organization actively participating in the social media conversation. This means responding to current trends, seeding new conversations, and connecting our work with the most active communities online.

We seek a leader with an innate sense for what works on the web, who is a positive influence and who knows what's happening at other news sites, because this is a passion.

Responsibilities:

-- Program the homepage in a fast-moving and often hectic environment

-- Utilize sharp news judgment for quick, bold, programming decisions

-- Utilize real-time analytics to drive click-thru rates

-- Utilize legacy analytics to identify trends for creating dayparting programming strategies

-- Propel organization to new social media heights

Requirements:

-- Solid background in writing and editing (often times under pressure)

-- Demonstrated success in a digital newsroom

-- Successful social media background

-- Outstanding digital deadline-writing-abilities

-- Strong background in analytics

-- Basic HTML and Photoshop skills
