St. Louis Public Radio – 90.7 KWMU, NPR Affiliate, seeks a full-time Education Reporter to plan, develop, and produce education-related news features and spots for broadcast during news and talk programming, and prepare and publish news content on station’s website and other social media platforms. Develop ideas for news stories, features, series, long-term projects, podcasts and other online initiatives.

Research, write, produce and edit news stories. Conduct studio, remote, and phone interviews. Participate in station development and promotional functions. Perform related duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, education or related area, and a minimum of two years reporting experience is required. Have a strong knowledge of and the ability to convey information regarding matters in education and learning at all levels, including: public, private, pre-K, K-12, continuing education, and lifelong learning. Successful previous Public Radio reporting and digital editing experience is desirable. Experience using data to drive reporting and ability to produce visual elements for web stories using data is highly desirable. Candidates for this position must meet STLPR’s standard of NPR-style reporting, conversational on-air delivery, and excellent writing and editing skills.
