Herald Media is looking for a motivated and talented City Editor. The right candidate is interested in being involved in a variety of functions from talking to members of the community about story ideas to writing headlines to ensuring our website is fresh. The position is based at based in our Provo office. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required. Qualified candidates apply online at



  • Edit local news stories for grammar, spelling, content, AP style and readability.
  • Manage, develop and coach reporters, help them along in improving stories and writing.
  • Talk to members of the community about story ideas, concerns, and comments.
  • Respond to inquiries from members of the public.
  • News budget planning and management.
  • Website management including writing headlines, and updating Twitter and Facebook as needed.
  • Ensure there are enough stories and photos to fill the paper
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and creative.
  • Must be able to manage multiple daily deadlines and multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism in the workplace.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
  • 3 to 5 years management experience.
