The Real News Network seeks an energetic daily news broadcast chase producer for a full-time position. The ideal candidate is an avid national and international news junkie with geopolitical analytical skills. The candidate knows who is who in the national/international political scene as well as academics and experts with critical, alternative perspectives. The job requires rigorous and analytical approaches to the conception, organization, and development of content for daily news programming. The candidate should have an exceptional ability to write to visuals and provide clear and concise editing notes and visual coverage. The job requires working in the TRNN studios in downtown Baltimore in a dynamic, high-energy newsroom.


The Real News Network (TRNN) is a non-profit, viewer-supported, daily video news and analysis service. TRNN doesn't sell advertising or accept government or corporate funding. The economic model allows us to act independently and follow facts to rational conclusions. Since 2007, The Real News Network has produced more than 7,000 stories, viewed more than one hundred million times. The mission of The Real News Network is to produce journalism that engages millions of viewers in solving the critical problems of our times.


- Communicates clearly with guests and schedules news production stories

- Books guests who will provoke informed, witty debate in video news stories

- Conceives and develops news program ideas, experts, and concepts

- Develops and organizes research, writes introductions, does fact-checking

- Prepares daily news content for review by the senior editor

- Coordinates post-production schedule

- Research visuals for video editors


- a relevant undergraduate or graduate university degree or equivalent experience

- at least 5 years of chase production in radio or TV broadcast

- in-depth knowledge of US and international politics, news, and current affairs

- daily news-cycle experience

- experience with news agency content, delivery, and acquisition processes

- avid reader and media consumer, particularly of independent and alternative news sources

- demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing stories

- experience with Final Cut editing platform and related A/V hardware and software (preferred)

- thrives under pressure

- excellent organizational skills

- availability to work occasional late nights

- strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
