Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree is required.
  • 5 years full-time news writing or editing experience, includingnewspaper, wire service or online copy editing background.
  • The ability to handle breaking news under heavy deadline pressure is a must as well as a proven understanding of U.S. domestic and international issues.
  • Must have leadershipskills to work effectively with writers and content editors as well as mentor and coach; have flexibilityto deal with rapid changes in news, adapt to breaking news, handle several tasks at once; have a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Broadcasting or multimedia experience is a plus.  

 

Duties:

  • The Photography Copy Editor provides final detailed edit for factual accuracy, sourcing, balance, libel, tone, context, grammar/spelling/style and will monitor stories and other elements across all CNN Digital platforms to maintain photo quality and consistency.
  • Will primarily work with the photo team to ensure that photo blog posts are up-to-date, that galleries, photo captions and other material comply with CNN guidance and standards. The Photography Copy Editor will support the senior photo editors to ensure that photos and texts work together as a cohesive whole.
  • The Photography Copy Editor might also edit story text, headlines and SMS content. He or she will work with content editors and writers to improve stories, and will use various newsroom tools for digital production purposes. At times, the Photography Copy Editor may also be asked to write stories by Assignment Editors or other supervisors.
  • This position may require working early mornings, late nights and/or weekends.
