SENIOR WRITER

 

The American Counseling Association, the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to serving and promoting the counseling profession, has an immediate opening for a self-motivated, organized and creative Senior Writer to complement our hardworking Counseling Today staff. Our monthly award-winning magazine is read by our 52,000+ members and is distributed to a variety of external counseling resources. The ideal candidate has a BA in English/Journalism, 3+ years’ experience in a publications (magazine or newspaper) environment, the ability to interview multiple people and piece the interviews into a coherent story, a background in developing story ideas and sources, general knowledge of mental health issues or counseling, experience in writing long feature-length articles and strong copyediting and proofreading skills.  This position has constant deadlines and changing priorities, so a sense of humor, can-do attitude and flexibility are a must! Excellent benefits include free parking.
