Description:

The Daily Press, located in Newport News, Va., is looking for experienced reporters to join its newsroom. We’re looking for journalists who have a desire to do insightful work, and who understand how to make that work fit in an environment that demands a 24-hour, digital-first approach. If you aren’t comfortable supplementing your stories with social media, photos and video, this is not the place for you. A minimum of five years’ experience as a reporter in a professional newsroom required.

Email clips or links to stories, including at least one investigative project, to Assigning Editor Ryan Gilchrest (rgilchrest@dailypress.com) and VP of Content Marisa Porto (mporto@dailypress.com), along with your resume and a brief cover letter.

Newport News is located on the Virginia peninsula. We are surrounded by the York River, the James River and the Chesapeake Bay. Among the communities we cover: Hampton, Gloucester, Mathews, Williamsburg and Smithfield. We are the home to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. If you’re a history buff, you’ll never be at a loss for places to see. If you like great seafood, beaches and still want to watch the leaves change in the fall, this is the place for you. We offer a great place to live as well as a great place to work.
