Description:

Senior Editor

The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting is seeking a talented, organized investigative editor and reporter to fill a newly created position.

We need a seasoned professional with experience editing and reporting investigative journalism. FCIR’s Senior Editor needs to be as comfortable with content-management systems and social media as he/she is with public records. FCIR collaborates with print, broadcast and online media, so the journalist in this position must be politically savvy and able to work well with editors and reporters at outside news organizations.

In addition to writing and editing investigative stories and blog items, the Senior Editor will supervise interns and freelance contributors.

This position is in South Florida and requires the ability to be focused and productive with minimal in-person supervision. Spanish-language and data journalism skills are desirable. No relocation assistance available.

Interested candidates should email a resume and links to investigative work to jobs@fcir.org. Emails with “Senior Editor” in the subject line will receive priority review. Please, no phone calls or direct emails to staff.

The Columbia Journalism Review described FCIR as “a pioneer bilingual investigative nonprofit.” Our journalism appears regularly on Florida’s NPR member stations and the NBC affiliate in Miami; in newspapers including the Miami Herald, Florida Times-Union and The (Lakeland) Ledger; and in Spanish-language and ethnic media throughout the state.
