Description:

 

Koahnic Broadcast Corp. seeks a producer to support the daily production 'Native America Calling' a live, one hour call-in talk show distributed to public radio stations around the country.

Duties include: researching program topics, booking guests, conducting pre-interviews, writing scripts for the host, posting questions to the audience through social media sites, and screening calls when necessary. Participate in planning and research for series and special projects. Act as back-up host as needed. Work under the supervision of the Executive Producer of National Programs.

Must be able to generate compelling ideas for shows every week on a range of topics including news, arts, entertainment and culture. Conduct independent research on program topics and potential guests using a range of resources, including printed material, broadcast material, and online materials such as articles, research papers, and government reports. Provide background materials to the NAC Host before broadcast. Keep current on national news and trends, particularly in relation to Native Americans and Alaska Natives.

Must be skilled in live broadcasting and able to act as the back-up host for NAC as required. As needed, perform other duties necessary for the live broadcast such as call screening.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, communications degree preferred. At least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Excellent research skills, including online research.  Knowledge of digital audio production. Proven, strong broadcast writing skills are a must.

Knowledgeable about FCC requirements and guidelines and able to ensure that the content meets those standards.
