The Durango Herald seeks a social media reporter who will produce frequent local news updates for Facebook and Twitter, communicate directly with readers on these and other social media platforms, and write enterprise and business stories for print and the web.

This job requires proven ability to mine and interpret data, research public records and cultivate sources. Experience working in a merged digital and print newsroom is desirable, as is a clear understanding of the importance of updating news quickly on the website. The ideal candidate will be able to write and edit breaking news posts and updates for the website ( while working closely with the photo/video team on coordinating web content.

Durango is an educated, active community with opinionated readers engaged in a multitude of issues and activities.  Readers expect timely, thorough news coverage and good writing, and are increasingly well-versed in various technologies that keep them informed.
