Description:

Assistant Web Producer

Ad Age -- the leading source of news, information and insight into the marketing, advertising and media business -- is seeking an assistant multimedia producer to help maintain our robust web presence.

Knowing the basics such as Photoshop and a bit of HTML/CSS is just the barrier for entry. What we’re really looking for is an aggressive multi-tasker who can produce storytelling visuals under deadline pressure. That means someone who wants to get the little things just right while keeping the bigger picture in mind and prioritizing accordingly. The assistant web producer should be the problem-solver type, and able to use the internet as a resource.

Our assistant web producer will work collaboratively with reporters, editors and developers, and have the opportunity to touch many parts of what we do digitally and continually push for a more awesome user experience.

Job Responsibilities:
• Photo research: find relevant, visually seductive art for news stories and feature treatments
• Participate in story pitch meetings and strategizing art opportunities for the week
• Work closely with reporters and editors to create charts, graphics and slideshows
• Use HTML/CSS to build novel presentations for non-traditional stories and story elements
• Prep magazine art for web use each week
• Aggressively keep pace with trends in online storytelling and building front-end web skills
• Potentially manage Ad Age’s social-media presence across various platforms

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and a keen visual sense to put them to use
• Basic HTML/CSS skills, and a strong desire to develop them further
• Data visualization experience, and a knack for conceiving and creating charts and graphs from data
• Familiarity with content management systems
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline
• Strong multi-tasking skills, and fortitude to handle mass influx of email
• Savvy social-media skills, ability to communicate concisely, creatively and professionally
• Strong design and user experience skills a plus
• Experience in the publishing or media fields preferred
